There is currently no effective method for complete prevention of mycetoma, but doctors recommend the following to reduce the risk of infection:
- Wearing protective footwear that prevents sharp objects from penetrating the skin in areas where mycetoma is prevalent, especially in areas where the population is engaged in agriculture or herding.
- Early detection of the disease facilitates treatment.
- Attending health awareness and education sessions to learn about mycetoma, its causes, transmission methods, prevention, and treatment, as well as the economic, social, and psychological impacts of infection.
